Sonniveglia

Set near the ruins of the 1693 Sicily earthquake, Sonniveglia follows a group of researchers who set up camp in an abandoned farmhouse. Using acoustic tools and their own physical senses, they attempt to communicate with the "ghosts" of the land. As they dig into the territory's history, their experiments seem to awaken the environment, triggering a series of strange phenomena. This investigation intertwines with two parallel stories that also seek out the unseen: present-day geologists translating deep underground movements into data, and a 1960s photographer trying to capture a "void" on film. As the boundaries between history, science, and perception blur, the researchers prepare to activate an "emitter" device, intending to broadcast a message into the unknown. What follows is a sudden resonance that bridges the distant seismic center, the 1960s darkroom, and the ruins—leaving behind echoes of a truth that defies time.
